Declaration made at the time of accession

“In accordance with Article 12(1), the Republic of Estonia recognises the competence of the Committee on the Rights of the Child to receive and consider complaints under this provision.”

"In accordance with article 16, paragraph 5 of the Convention, the Republic of Estonia indicates its commitment to a total ban on tobacco vending machines within its jurisdiction.

Upon accession:

“As a Member State of the European Community the Republic of Estonia has transferred its competence to the European Community in fields governed by this Convention and listed in the declaration annexed to the Council Decision of 14 October 2004 concerning the conclusion, on behalf of the European Community, of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (2006/507/EC).”

“According to Article 3 paragraph 2 the Republic of Estonia declares that the minimum age for voluntary recruitment into national armed forces is 18 years.”

“… the Republic of Estonia declares that in respect of any dispute concerning the interpretation or application of the Protocol within the meaning of Article 11, paragraph 2 of the Protocol, it recognizes the means of dispute settlement as compulsory, in relation to any Party accepting the same obligation.”

"In accordance with Article 97, paragraph 4 of the said Convention, the Republic of Estonia declares that the Republic of Estonia withdraws the declaration made in the said instrument of ratification, which prescribed that: "in accordance with Articles 12 and 96 of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods any provision of Article 11, Article 29 or Part II of the Convention that allows a contract of sale or its modification or termination by agreement or any offer, acceptance or other indication of intention to be made in any form other than in writing does not apply where any party has his place of business in the Republic of Estonia."

Declaration :

"....that Republic of Estonia applies instead Article 16, paragraph I (a) (iv) of the Convention pursuant to which, as regards Article 12 of the Convention in connection with phonograms the producer of which is a national of another Contracting State, the Republic of Estonia will limit the protection provided for by Article 12 to the extent to which, and to the term for which, that Contracting State grants protection to phonograms first fixed by a national of the Republic of Estonia; however, the fact that the Contracting State of which the producer is a national does not grant the protection to the same beneficiary or beneficiaries as the Republic of Estonia shall not be considered as a difference in the extent of the protection".

“[Subject to the following] reservations ...:
1) to Articles 23 and 24 as follows:
The Republic of Estonia considers articles 23 and 24 merely as recommendatory, not as legally binding.
2) to Article 25 as follows:
The Republic of Estonia shall not be bound to cause a certificate to be delivered by an Estonian authority, in place of the authorities of a foreign country, if documentary records necessary for the delivery of such a certificate do not exist in the Republic of Estonia.
3) to Article 28, paragraph 1 as follows:
The Republic of Estonia shall not be obliged within five years from the entry into force of the present Convention to issue travel documents provided in article 28.”
