CURRENCY AND OTHER EQUIVALENTS Currency From October 1975 to January 1979, the Tanzanian shilling was tied to the value of the Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) of the IMF (SDR 1.00 = T. Sh. 9.66), and subsequently has been tied to a basket of currencies. As a result, the US dollar/Tanzanian shilling exchange rate is subject to change. The annual average exchange rates for the last five years, and the spot rate at the end of September 1980, are as follows: T. Fiscal Years The Tanzanian fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30.
