Since then, it has been fixed relative to a "basket" of currencies consisting of the U.S. Dollar, the Pound Sterling, the Deutschmark and the Japanese Yen. As all of these currencies are now floating, the U.S. Dollar/Rupee exchange rate is subject to change.
