Declaration made upon ratification:

“The Republic of Guinea-Bissau declares, in accordance with and for the purposes of Article 10(1) and Article 70 of the Agreement, that the provisions of the Agreement relating to activities related to marine genetic resources and digital sequence information on marine genetic resources in areas beyond national jurisdiction shall not apply to marine genetic resources and digital sequence information on marine genetic resources in areas beyond national jurisdiction collected and generated prior to the entry into force of the Agreement, and shall apply exclusively from the date of its entry into force.”

Declaration:

Paragraph 1 of article 31 of Law No. 4/99, of 7 September, establishing the concept and objective of compulsory military service, published in the Supplement to Official Gazette No. 36 of Tuesday 07/09/99, stipulates that the minimum age at which Guinea-Bissau will permit voluntary recruitment into its armed forces is 17.
Such recruitment shall take place with the formal consent of the parents or legal representative of the young person concerned, after the latter has been informed of the legal responsibilities associated with national military service and upon presentation of proof of age documents.

Declaration regarding article 76 (1):

The Republic of Guinea-Bissau recognizes the competence of the Committee to receive and consider communications by which a Party claims that another Party is not fulfilling its obligations under the above-mentioned Convention.
Declaration regarding paragraph 1 of article 92:

The Republic of Guinea-Bissau does not consider itself bound by paragraph 1 of article 92, according to which any dispute between Parties concerning the interpretation or application of the Convention which is not settled by negotiation is subject to arbitration, at the request of one of them and if the Parties fail to agree on the organization of the arbitration, any of them may submit the dispute to the International Court of Justice.

Declaration

Hereby declare that the declaration the Government has made in accordance with Article 41 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights to recognize the competence of the Human Rights Committee to receive and consider communications when a State Party claims that another State Party is not fulfilling its obligations do not extend to the provisions of the Second Optional Protocol, as provided in Article 4 thereof.
Also, declare that the competence that the Government of Guinea-Bissau recognizes for the Human Rights Committee to receive and consider communications from individuals subject to its jurisdiction does not extend to the provisions of the Second Optional Protocol, in accordance with the option provided in Article 5 thereof.

Declaration:

1. Recognize the competence of the Committee Against Torture to receive and consider communications in which a Party claims that another Party is not fulfilling its obligations under this Convention, and
2. Also declare that we recognize the Committee's competence to receive and consider communications from individuals or groups of individuals within our jurisdiction claiming to be victims of a violation of any of the rights contained in this Convention.

As regards article 287 on the choice of a procedure for the settlement of disputes concerning the interpretation or applica- tion of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, [the Government of Guinea-Bissau] does not accept the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice and consequently will not accept that jurisdiction with respect to articles 297 and 298.
