The construction of the Jinzhou W.W.T project can improve the environment of the city and Daling-Xiaoling river basin. This sub-project consist of Dishuihu W.W.T Plant construction and urban sewers construction/improvement. Jinzhou Dishuihu W.W.T.P will be located on the Dishuihu team of Yaogou village, southeast of the city, and on the south bank of Xiaoling river. The phase one capacity of WWTP is 100,OOm /d., additional 100,000m3/d for phase two. The Plant will occupy 15 ha. land totally, among which 10 ha. for the phase one. Five new lines of sewage interceptors with 10,032 m total length will be constructed under the sub-project. 1.2 Areas affected/benefit by the project Areas affected by the project covers Dishuihe team of Yaogou village and Nanshan Economic Trade Trial Zone, Jinzhou city; Area affected by the sewers construction is around the urban of the city. The area beneficial from the project covers down stream of Xiaoling river with 56Km2 total area. Since the country's reform and opening to outside and the rapid economic development, population growth, urban construction, the domeslic and industrial wastewater have been increased gradually and are directly discharging to Xiaoling river without any treatment. This have aggravated the pollution of Xiaoling river. As a result, some certain pollutants excess the standard largely. The residential health and industrial production is being threatened seriously. When the W.W.T.P completed, the pollution load of Daling and Xiaoling rivers will be reduced largely, and water environment of Xiaoling river system can be restored. Meanwhile the pollution of Bohai sea will alleviate, which will be favorable to the aquaculture on the beach of Bohai sea. In general, the construction of W.W.T.P and sewers will produce a large significance on improving environment quality, boosting the opening to outside and economic development of Jinzhou city, through which Jinzhou city will become a economic and cultural center in western part of Liaoning province. 1.3 Socio-economic background of the project area Jinzhou city is situated in the west part of Liaoning, north of Bohai sea with Shenshan railway and road going through its urban area. Jinzhou city, adjacent Liaodong bay on south, is a important constitute of Liaoxi corridor and also is a important transportation hinge and military base.
