C. 20433 TELEPHONE: EXECUTIVE 3-6360 Bank Press Release SUBJECT: Bank mission to Peru For release AM newspapers March 13, 1965 The World Bank is sending a mission to Peru to study the Government's economic development,\progr-arn and policies• The mission is µeaded by Mr. Hubert Havl:ik, Program Adviser to the Director of the Bank's Western Hemisphere Department. The team includes economists and advisers on public investments and finance, transport including highways and ports, electric power, agricUlture and irrigation, industry, housing, education and public health. The United Nations, the Food and Agri- culture Organization and Unesco are cooperating with the Bank in the mission • by providing advisers in housing, agriculture arxl education. Of the 19 mis- sion members, 11 are from the Bank's staff. The mission will arrive in Lima on Sunday, March 14, and is expected to remain in Peru for about seven weeks. Mr. Havlik, who will head the mission, joined the Bank in 1954 which he has served in ,different capacities. His assignment before his present position in the organization was as head of the Resident Mission to Chile• Earlier in his career Mr. Havlik served in the United States Government, in the European office of the Marshall Plan as representative on the Managing Board of the European. Payments Union. He also served in the State Department and in the Foreign Economic Administra~ion.
