Page 1 October 29, 1992 The Secretary to the Government of India Ministry of Finance Department of Economic Affairs New Delhi, India Dear Sir: Re: Maternal and Child Health Project Amendment of the Japanese Grant Agreement We refer to the Japanese Grant Agreement dated June 5, 1991 between India (the Recipient) and the International Development Association (the Association) on its own behalf and as Administrator of certain grant funds provided by Japan for the Maternal and Child Health Project. In accordance with discussions between the Association's staff and concerned Government officials regarding the utilization of funds provided under this Japanese Grant Agreement for the preparation of projects in the maternal and child health sector, we are pleased to inform you that the Association has agreed to amend the Schedule to the Japanese Grant Agreement as follows: (1) The first paragraph in the Schedule is deleted and substituted by the following: The objectives of the technical assistance are to assist the Recipient in respect of the formulation of a maternal and child health/child survival and safe motherhood project, as well as other maternal and child health projects in other states, for the purpose of supporting the Recipient's national immunization mission or universal immunization program (UIP), UIP Plus, and Safe Motherhood. (2) The following is added as a new sub-paragraph (8) of the Schedule: (8) Preparation of externally assisted investment projects in the maternal and child health sector. Please confirm your agreement to the foregoing by signing and dating the enclosed form of confirmation and returning it to us. Subject to your confirmation as indicated above, this amendment will be effective as of the date of this letter.
