Page 1 October 14, 1988 His Excellency Minister of Planning and Cooperation Ouagadougou Burkina Faso Re: Credit No. 1896-BUR (Agricultural Research Project) Amendment to the Development Credit Agreement Excellency: Please refer to the above-mentioned Development Credit Agreement between Burkina Faso (the Borrower) and the International Development Association (the Association) dated May 23, 1988. Pursuant to discussions between representatives of the Borrower and the Association, we hereby agree to amend the Development Credit Agreement in the following manner: In Section 3.03 (a), the words "November 30, 1988, and" are deleted and replaced by the following: "January 31, 1989;" In Section 3.03 (b) (i), the words "January 31, 1989" are deleted and replaced by the following: "June 30, 1989. In Section 3.03 (b) (ii), the words "September 30, 1989." are deleted and replaced by the following: "December 31, 1989; and". A new paragraph (c) is added to Section 3.03, providing as follows: "(c) employ an internationally recruited Research Management Specialist to assist the Director of INERA, with experience and qualifications acceptable to the Association, not later than June 30, 1989." In Section 3.04, the words "October 31, 1988" are deleted and replaced by the following; "January 31, 1989". In Section 3.09, the words "December 31, 1988" are deleted and replaced by the following: "March 31, 1989". Paragraph (a) of Section 6.01 of the Development Credit Agreement is deleted. Paragraphs (b) and (c) of said Section are relettered to become paragraphs (a) and (b), respectively. Please confirm your agreement to the above amendment by signing and dating the form of confirmation on the enclosed copy of this letter and returning it to us.
