The Grant provides incentives to atleast 1100 farmers to purchase improved agriculture input, water management technology, and adoption of improved livestockpractices. Through this kind of system, the beneficiaries with support of extension officers can chose from a list of options, theinputs, which cover best their needs, and they also have the option to choose among various participating input suppliers. Page 1 of 4  The World Bank Report No: ISR7172 TheProject started with a pilot round. During a first window of application in November 2011, the farmers could apply for theincentives. From the pool of applicants, 36 small farmers were selected by the Selection Committee and received the vouchers inFebruary of 2012. These were redeemed by the benefiting producers at the participating input suppliers. The pilot phase allowed theProject Management to identify bottlenecks and shortcomings. During the following two months the necessary adjustments wereundertaken and extension Public Disclosure Copy officers and input suppliers were trained to improve the quality and speed of the incentive mechanism.From May 2012 on, the Selection Committee has met regularly and by end of July 2012, 235 vouchers were provided to the benefitingfarmers.
