Project activities have been fully implemented in about 3,800 villages and started in the rest of 1,200 villages (out of 5,000). The project has already provided sustainable access to improved water facilities to more than 2 million people and improved sanitation to more Public Disclosure Copy than 200,000 people. Community-based operations and maintenance teams have been established in all project villages, and more than 95 percent of targeted schools have improved their sanitation facilities and adopted hygiene programs.
