I Bank Ne~·s Release August 18, 1975 WORLD BANK RESIDENT MISSION OPENS IN CAMEROON The President of the World Bank, Robert S! McNamara, announced that at the request of the Government of Cameroon the World Bank will establish a resident mission in Yaounde. The mission will facilitate the development and implementation of the programs of the World Bank and its affiliate, the International Development Association (IDA), in Cameroon and some adjacent countries. Mr. Michel Palein, a French national, has been appointed Resident • Representative in Cameroon, and is taking up his duties on August 18 . Mr. Palein joined the World Bank in 19h4 as an economist, worked in the Bank's Agricultural Projects Department until 1969, when He he joined the Regional Mission for Western Africa in Abidjan as an agricultural economist. Since returning to the World Bank's headquarters in Washington in 1972, Mr. Palein has been working as a senior loan officer with primary responsibility for Bank activities in Cameroon. Prior to joining the World Bank, Mr. Palein was an economist with the French Steel Federation (Chambre Syndicale de la Siderurgie Fran~aise). - 0 - •
