PA.RrICIPATION IN THE EXPANDED PROGRAMME OF TEClOOCAL ASsrsrANCE Resolution WHAl2.22 of the World Health Assembly is submitted for information of the Committee. The attention of the Committee is drawn in particular to paragraphs 2 and ,3. UThe Twelfth World Health Assembly, Having considered the report of the Director-General on the programme aspects of WHO participation in the Expanded Programme of Technical Assistancel as well as resolution EB2,3.R77 on "Planning for 1960 and Future Years II, 2 1. NarES the report;
2. EXPRESSES its concern at the diminished level of funds for the planning of the 1960 Programme and its disruptive effect on the normal development and the long-term nature of health activities; and ,3. ENDORSES the views expressed by the Executive Board at its twentythird session in inviting health administrations to emphasize the inclusion of appropriate health activities in their countries' consolidated programme requests for 1960 and future years." It is a matter of much concern to the Regional Office to note the diminishing funds 'Which are being allocated under the Technical Assistance programme for health activities in this region. A statement showing the amounts allocated to health activities in countries of the Region over the last four years has been prepared so that the Regional Committee ~ be fully aware of the present situation (See Annex 1). It is suggested that the Regional Committee may wish to discuss this matter with a view to finding a solution which may perhaps stop this downward trend.
