1 Having considered the dooument on the Epidemiological Approach to Tuberculosis Control i n the Conmunlty subadtted by tha Regional Director;
Reoalling resolution lBI/RClO/R.8 an tuberculosis control w i t h particular reference t o domiciliary treatmrmt, adopted by the Regional Cornhittee a t its Tenth Session;
Recognizing that tuberoulosis continues t o be one of the main medical and social problems i n the Fastern Mediterranean Region;
Noting w i t h satisfaction the endorsement by the UNICEF/WHO Joint Conadttee on Health Policy of WHO'S technical policy i n the control of tuberculosis,
1. URGES Member States t o follow as closely as possible the policy adopted by the Organization particularly w i t h respect to:
(a) the local development, testing and evaluation in a p i lo t area, of present technical knowledge of tuberoulosis control, und& optlmm f ie ld conditions before adopting --ion into a national progra~anw covering the whole country;
(b) the training of specialized and general health personnel for oarrying out tuberoulosia control work;
(c) the integration of simpla hberculosis procedures into the routine of gonoral plblic health workers;
(d) encoumgement of connunity participation i n tha national tuberaulosia control efforts)
(e) the use of freeze-dried BCG vaccine i n climatic coslitlons adverse t o the potcmoy of liquid BCG vaocine;
