The only products which were used in qreater quantity than l-he previous l'ear \.iere Abat.e ( .1 000 J t. more ) and Perrnethrine ( 1 000 1t more ) . However, heavy localised rains in Jrrly (week 30) soon produced river discharqes which were untreatable with B.t, and so Abat.e a,nd Pyraclofos r{ere ertensive}y used. As river clischarges became high, tfavourecl procluct was Permethrine, and b1' the t.ime si>: c1'cles had beern ril[ised, discharges in most basiirs had fallen t.o a level where again, the most economic choices v;ere Abat.e and P1'rac'.1 ofos. Ry thc. end of November, mau.v basins hacl begun to dry up. Tributaries Lepe removed from lreat.ment and favourable entomological results ensured frrrther treat.metrt srtspensiotr. 1993 exhibited the highest level of suspension for the past three years and thr:s a corresponding reduction in t.otal itrsecticide usage. 2.O RESULTS The r*:su1ts of an Inventory performecl at. the end of 1993 on stoclis rtf f LreI barrels, Jet A1 Avi:rtion Fuel and Itrsect icide in the EOA are presentecl in Tables 1 to 8. The lollowing table shows the difference between Registeredjnsect.icide use ancl that which was actualiy dispensed by the aircraft (in l itres), found by taking the rlifferences between loacl and offloacl throughout the .vear.
