Method of work of the Regional Committee (Resolution)

WORLD HEALTH ORGANlZA11ON ORGANlSA11ON IIONDIALE DE LA SANTE RESOLUTION REGIONAL COMlollTEE FOR THE WESTERN PACIFIC COIIITE REGIONAL DU PACIFIQUE OCCIDENTAL WPRlRC46.RII 15 September 1995 METIlOD OF WORK OF TIlE REGIONAL COMMITfEE The Regional Committee, Having considered document WPRlRC46/11, WHO Response to Global Change, which addresses the regional implications and progress of the ongoing reform process within WHO; Noting the recommendation of the Sub-Committee of the Regional Committee on Programmes and Technical Cooperation to the Regional Committee at its forty-fifth session that the Regional Committee and its secretariat should always be searching for more effective ways of operating; Reflecting the discussion at its forty-sixth session of the need to seek further gains in efficiency and effectiveness through changes in work methods; Noting also the will to explore, on an experimental basis, alternative methods to the present Technical Discussions for conveying appropriate information to Member States during the session of the Committee; .. .I WPRlRC46.RII page 2 1. REAFFIRMS its commitment to continuing to review its own methods of work in the light of changing circumstances and the health needs in the Region; 2. URGES Member States to provide recommendations to future sessions of the Regional Committee on changes in work methods; 3. REQUESTS the Regional Director: (1) to continue to facilitate the process of ongoing review of the method of work of the Regional Committee; (2) to undertake a review and analysis of the value and effectiveness of the work of the Sub-Committee of the Regional Committee on Programmes and Technical Cooperation for presentation to the Regional Committee in 1996; (3) to arrange technical briefings on appropriate subjects, in lieu of the Technical Discussions, in close coordination with the host countries for the Regional Committee at its forty-seventh and forty-eighth sessions.
