Inform ation subm itted to the Surveillance Service pointed out the réintroduction of canine rabies in Panama—for the second tim e m 1970—after 60 years o f freedom from the disease The first focus appeared in Puerto Obaldia (south-east) in June; the second in David (north-east). There is no relationship between the two outbreaks.1 U ntil recently, rabies in Grenada was reported to occur only in the mongoose. Recently, however, several cases were reported to have occurred m domestic dogs and cats. In the city of Cordoba (Argentina) three laboratory confirmed cases in the insectivorous bat Tadarida brasihensis were reported in an area free of rabies for three years ‘ See No 51, 1970, p 564
