WPR/RC30.R15 REPORT OF THE REGIONAL COMMITTEE RESOLUTIONS OF REGIONAL INTEREST ADOPTED BY THE THiRTY-SECOND WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY AND THE EXECUTIVE BOARD AT ITS SIXTY-THIRD SESSION The Regional Committee TAKES NOTE of the following resolutions adopted by the Thirty- second World Health Assembly and the Executive Board at its sixty-third session: WHA32.13 - Development of the mental health programme WHA32.14 - Workers' health programme WHA32.l5 - Development and coordination of biomedical and health servtces research WHA32.31 - Review of the medium-term programme for the promotion of environmental health WHA32.32 EB63.R5 - Smallpox eradication WHA32.33 - Respiratory diseases WHA32.39 - Leprosy WHA32.40 -Development of the WHO programme on alcohol-related problems WHA32.41 EB63.R20 - Action programme on essential drugs WHA32.42 - WHO long-term programme for maternal and child health EB63.R4 - Proposed programme budget for the financial period 1980-1981: programme review: traditional medicine programme EB63.R24 - Voluntary fund for health promotion EB63.R29 - Action in respect of international conventions on narcotic and psychotropic substances EB63.R19 - WHO's human health and environment programme - evaluation of the effects of chemicals on health 31 Seventh meeting, 5 October 1979 WPR/RC30. R16 COUNTRY HEALTH PROGRAMMING The Regional Committee, Recalling resolutions WHA3l.l2 on country health programming and Wl~32.30 on the formulation of strategies for health for all by the year 2000; 32 REGIONAL COMMITTEE: THIRTIETH SESSION Reiterating the importance of country health programming for health development; Having considered the present status of country health programming in the Region;l 1. URGES Member States to: (1) introduce and strengthen country health programming for integrated health development; (2) set up adequate mechanisms for implementation and further development of country health programming; (3) establish national centres for health development which will undertake training and research in country health programming; (4) cooperate with each other in training activities and in exchanging experience in country health programming research and development, in the spirit of regional self-reliance in health matters; 2. REQUESTS the Regional Director to continue to: (1) cooperate with Member States in introducing and strengthening the country health programming process; (2) strengthen mechanisms for tne support of country health programming at national and regional level. R17 THE WHO FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME The Regional Committee, Having rev:1.ewed--ihe report presented by the Regional Director on the WHO fellowship programme; 2 Considering that implementation of the recommendations made by the representatives of Member States at the Conference on Regional Cooperation in the WHO Fellowship Programme will improve the health manpower develop- ment programme in general and fellowship activities in particular; Recognizing that those recommendations carry with them the support of Member States and that the improvements suggested will depend upon the national will to use the fellowship programme more effectively; 1 Document WPR/RC30/15. 2 Document WPR/RC30/16. ... ... .. 32 REGIONAL COMMITTEE: THIRTIETH SESSION Reiterating the importance of country health programming for health development; Having considered the present status of country health programming in the Region;l 1.
