INFLUENZA A r g e n t in a (information dated 30 June). — 1 An increase in the

incidence of influenza affecting all age groups has occurred since the beginning of June in the general population of the region of Cordoba. A localized outbreak was observed from 3 to 20 June in a primary school (attack rate: 60%). Several strains of virus A have been isolated both in the general population and from the pupils of the affected school. A u s t r a l ia (information dated 6 July). — Since late June, scat­ tered influenza cases (11 o f them in a children’s home) have been reported throughout the Melbourne metropolitan area. Strains of virus B have been isolated, which appear to be related to, but not identical with, B/Yictoria/102/72 (which is similar to the new variant B/HK/5/72).* F i j i . — In Suva and Lautoka, during the week ended 9 June, there has been a rise in the number of cases showing serological evidence of recent infection with virus A. F in l a n d (information for week ending 16 June). — 1 3 Sporadic * influenza cases have been reported in the north of the country, but no clear outbreaks have been observed. Serological evidence of infection with virus B was obtained in 12 cases.
