Date and place of the sixth regular session of the Conference of the Parties 1. In accordance with Rule 4.2 of the Rules of Procedure of the Conference of the Parties (COP), “At each regular session, the Conference of the Parties shall decide on the date and duration of the next regular session”. It will be recalled that, after the third session, regular sessions of the Conference of the Parties shall be held every two years as per Rule 4.1 of the Rules of Procedure. 2. Rule 3 of the Rules of Procedure also stipulates that: “The sessions of the Conference of the Parties shall be held at the seat of the Secretariat, unless the Conference of the Parties decides otherwise”. 3. The Convention Secretariat would like to inform the Conference of the Parties of the availability, at the time of writing, of the Geneva International Conference Centre (CICG): 5–10 May 2014, 12–17 May 2014, 9–14 June 2014, 14–19 July 2014. Alternatively, the CICG might also become available on 17–22 November 2014, 24–29 November 2014 and on 8–13 December 2014. However these last options are subject to confirmation by the CICG by end of 2012.
ACTION BY THE CONFERENCE OF THE PARTIES 4. The Conference of the Parties is invited to decide on the date and place of its sixth session in 2014 in accordance with Rules 3 and 4 of its Rules of Procedure.
