Decision: date and place of the eighth regular session of the Conference of the Parties to the WHO FCTC

Conference of the Parties to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control Seventh session Delhi, India, 712 November 2016 12 November 2016 DECISION FCTC/COP7(31) Date and place of the eighth regular session of the Conference of the Parties to the WHO FCTC The Conference of the Parties (COP), Taking into account Article Rule 3 of the Rules of Procedure, which provides that the sessions of the Conference of the Parties shall be held at the seat of the Secretariat, unless the Conference of the Parties decides otherwise; Considering also that the first session of the Meeting of the Parties (MOP1) to the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products (the Protocol) shall be held immediately before or immediately after the next regular session of the Conference of the Parties following the entry into force of the Protocol, in accordance with Article 33.1 of the Protocol; Considering that the following options for possible dates have been proposed for the convening of the eighth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP8): Option A: 26 November1 December 2018 Option B: 16 October 2018 1. DECIDES that COP8 will be held at the seat of the Secretariat in Geneva; 2. REQUESTS the Bureau, in consultation with the Secretariat, to determine the dates of COP8; 3. ALSO REQUESTS the Bureau, in consultation with the Secretariat, to determine the dates of MOP1 to be held either immediately before or immediately after COP8, subject to entry into force of the Protocol in accordance with its Article 45.
