The established schedule for his visit includes obserration of parasitologica-l and clinica-l evaluatlon in Ghana, entonological activities at all fevels as well as vector control operations. At Kourougbele rriIlage, in the Gaoua region, Dr [hylefors and Dr Rosslerjoi:ted. the tea.m of Dr Bllttner, of the Hamburg Bernhard-Nocht Institut stuttyi-:eg, j-ri collaboration with the Programme, the effect of nod.ulectomy in onchoeerciasis patj-ents living in areas where transm:Lssion has been interr. mpted. k:habitants of Kourougbele, some of whom had. had a nodulectomy in L977 t as well as those of the neighbor.ring villages of Henkoa and Yabar who had had. a nod.ulectomy in 1978 were invited for an ophthalmelogical check-up. 0n the part of those who had had a nod.ulectomy the response was very positive, Altogether 155 persons were exarlined, half of them havlng had a nod.ulectomy, Prelirinary results indicate that the nicrofilariae load. at ocular 1evel has eonsid.erably d.imin-lshed. Study of the data collected will indicate whether this is to be attributed to nodulectomy or to j-nterruption of transrrission. A joint cotrunmlcation on the subject will be prepared tturing the year by Dr fhylefors and Dr Blittrrer. Insectici-des By telex to Dr J.
