WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION FIFTY-SIXTH WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY A56/INF.DOC./3 Provisional agenda item 16.6 10 April 2003 Assessments for 2004-2005 1. The purpose of this document is to provide further information to assist the Health Assembly in its consideration of the WHO scales of assessment for 2004-2005.1 2. The table annexed to document A56/35, which is similar in format and content to that presented to the Executive Board at its 111th session,2 shows scales of assessment for 2000, 2002 and 2003 for the United Nations, and related scales for WHO. In the case of WHO, the scale for the biennium 2002-2003 was obtained by translating into percentages the total of respective contributions and relief, if any, for each Member and Associate Member divided by the total budget which was to be financed from assessed contributions, namely, US$ 842 654 000. 3. The Annex to the present document lists Members and Associate Members, broken down into three groups: (a) the first group comprises those Members and Associate Members for which relief was provided in 2002-2003, listed in order of decreasing amount of relief provided; (b) the second group comprises those Members and Associate Members listed in alphabetical order, for which there was no change between their respective assessments for 2000-2001 and those for 2002-2003; (c) the third group comprises those Members and Associate Members for which the assessment for 2002-2003 in percentage terms and corresponding amount was lower than the related assessments for 2000-2001. They are listed in descending order of the dollar value of the decrease in assessments between the two bienniums. 4. First group • For 2000-2001, Columns 2 and 3 show assessed contributions in terms of percentage and United States dollars; • for 2002-2003, Columns 4 to 7 show contributions in United States dollars, related relief, and the total of contributions and relief both as an amount and as a percentage of the regular budget to be financed from assessed contributions; 1 See document A56/35. 2 Document EB111/15. Columns 8 and 9 incorporate the ad hoc adjustments for Afghanistan and Argentina for 2003. Columns 10 and 11 show scales of assessment for 2004-2005 without these adjustments. WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION FIFTY-SIXTH WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY A56/INF.DOC./3 Provisional agenda item 16.6 10 April 2003 Assessments for 2004-2005 1. The purpose of this document is to provide further information to assist the Health Assembly in its consideration of the WHO scales of assessment for 2004-2005.1 2. The table annexed to document A56/35, which is similar in format and content to that presented to the Executive Board at its 111th session,2 shows scales of assessment for 2000, 2002 and 2003 for the United Nations, and related scales for WHO. In the case of WHO, the scale for the biennium 2002-2003 was obtained by translating into percentages the total of respective contributions and relief, if any, for each Member and Associate Member divided by the total budget which was to be financed from assessed contributions, namely, US$ 842 654 000. 3. The Annex to the present document lists Members and Associate Members, broken down into three groups: (a) the first group comprises those Members and Associate Members for which relief was provided in 2002-2003, listed in order of decreasing amount of relief provided; (b) the second group comprises those Members and Associate Members listed in alphabetical order, for which there was no change between their respective assessments for 2000-2001 and those for 2002-2003; (c) the third group comprises those Members and Associate Members for which the assessment for 2002-2003 in percentage terms and corresponding amount was lower than the related assessments for 2000-2001. They are listed in descending order of the dollar value of the decrease in assessments between the two bienniums. 4. First group • For 2000-2001, Columns 2 and 3 show assessed contributions in terms of percentage and United States dollars; • for 2002-2003, Columns 4 to 7 show contributions in United States dollars, related relief, and the total of contributions and relief both as an amount and as a percentage of the regular budget to be financed from assessed contributions; 1 See document A56/35. 2 Document EB111/15.
