Karamehmetoglu Hacettepe University Ankara, Turkey Work was started on hypertension control at the end of April. The area chosen for the study is Etimesut in the suburbs of Ankara, where there is a central local hospital (affiliated to Hacettepe) and several smaller medical units. Recording and recounting of the whole population has been started, in order to realize a good randomization. A Hypertension Clinic one day a week has been organized in the Cardiology Out-Patient Clinic in Hacettepe. For the purpose of local filing, some standard record forms have been produced in Turkish. The centre is not using carbon copies to send to WHO for computer analysis, but prefers to use the data transfer sheets which they have prepared in En~lish.
