Implementation of resolution WHA19.31 (Resolution)

REPORT OF THE REGIONAL COMMITTEE 17 that are not related to the usual governmentally supported national and international organizations; (2) that these workers and their activities play an important part in the health programmes of Member countries; (3) that as national health planning becomes more aDd more recognized and practiced as an important administrative function of health departments, private foundations, enter- prises, and bilateral volunteer programmes play important roles in the health services of countries; RECOMMENDS that Member governments, (1) in initiating and developing national health planning programmes, include and involve the early participation aDd utilization of these additional resources; (2) involve aDd utilize the assistance of llliO in such planning and developmental activities; (3) inform the Regional Director of the action taken so that a report can be submitted to the nineteenth session of the Regional Committee. , WPR Handb.Res., 5th ed., 1.1.2 Second meeting, 14 September 1967 WPR/RC18. R2 IMPLEMENTATION OF RESOLUl'ION WHAl9. 31 The Regional Committee, Noting resolution WHA2O.38 of the Twentieth llorld HeaJ.th Assembly; Considering that one of the functions of the vlorld HeaJ.th Organization is to stimulate and advance work to control and eradicate epidemic, endemic and other diseases; 18 REGIONAL COMMITTEE: EIGln'EENTH SESSION Considering that it is declared in the Preamble to the Constitution of the Organization that unequal development in different countries in the promotion of health and control of diseases is a common danger and that the extension to all peoples of the benefits of medical, psychological and related Imowledge is essentiul to the fullest attainment of health, RECOMMENDS that the policy of granting technical assistance to a Member State or to overseas territories under its adminis- tration be reviewed in so far as this policy imposes restrictions limiting the extension of ·the Organization's campaigns against communicable diseases of iforld-,dde or regional importance or Circumscribing programmes for the training of indigenous health personnel of the overseas territories concerned.
