Development of health research (Resolution)

V/PR/RC,38.R9 DEVELOPHENT OF HEALTH RESEARCH The Regional Committee, Having considered the report of the Regional Director on the development of health research;1 Noting the efforts being made to develop adequate mechanisms at national level to ensure effective research coordination in order to relate research priorities to the solution of major health or health- related problems; Noting also the progress being made in the strengthening of national research capability, particularly in rleveloping countries, through the organization of national training courses in research methodology and the award of training and research 1;rants; 1. EUDORSES the recommendations of the \1estern Pacific Advisory Committee on Health Research at its eleventh session; 2. REQUESTS the Regional Director: (1) to implement the recommendations of the Western Pacific Advisory Committee on Health Research; (2) to ensure that the research activities supported by UI!O uill help to solve the health issues of a country and that, as far as possible, high priority is given to the activities that will produce results of relevance to more than one J.lember State; (.3) to ensure that the best possible use is made of the results of research activities and that they are made available for the benefit of all other Member States.
