Pseudomonas and Klebsiella infections were each distributed between burns, surgical wounds and the urinary tract, whereas Streptococcus was found in bums and the urinary tract, and Enterobacter in the urinary tract only. Specimens collected from surgical cases should be used in the systematic surveillance of nosocomial infections in addition to diagnostic purposes.
