TECHNICAL DISCUSSIONS: SELECTION OF A SUBJECT FOR THE TECHNICAL DISCUSSIONS TO BE HELD PRIOR TO THE SIXTY-SECOND SESSION OF THE REGIONAL COMMITTEE This document lists the subjects of the Technical Discussions held since 1994 in conjunction with the sessions of the Regional Committee. It also provides a list of proposed subjects for the Technical Discussions to be held prior to the sixty-second session of the Regional Committee in 2009. The Meeting of the Advisory Committee (ACM) was requested to review the proposed subjects for the Technical Discussions and select the subject to be submitted to the Regional Committee for consideration at its Sixty-first Session. The ACM reviewed and discussed all the propsoed five topics for the technical discussions and selected the topic “Reducing the health effects of climate change” and rephrased the title as “Protecting human health from climate change”. The ACM unanimously recommended that the Sixty-first Session of the Regional Committee endorse the topic “Protecting human health from climate change” as the subject for Technical Discussions to be held prior to the sixty-second session of the Regional Committee. The subject for the Technical Discussions selected by the ACM is now submitted to the Sixty-first Session of the Regional Committee for its consideration and endorsement.
