... , >- REPORT OF THE REGIONAL COMMITTEE 43 Having examined the tentative projection of the programme and budget for 19751 prepared in accordance with the requirements of resolution WHA22.53 of the World Health Assembly, 1. ENDORSES the tentative projection for 1975 for the Western Pacific Region, as presented by the Regional Director, and 2. REQUESTS the Regional Director to transmit the tentative projection to the Director-General. Fifth meeting, 3 October 1972 WPR/RC23.Rl7 REGIONAL ACTIVITIES IN ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION CONTROL The Regional Committee, Having considered the second progress report submitted by the Regional Direc~or on the regional activities in environmental pollution control, 1. RECOGNIZES the importance of these activities in the effective implementation of national public health programmes, particularly in respect of communicable diseases control; 2. RECOMMENDS that Member countries expand their own environ- mental pollution control programmes and explore the possibility of funds being provided from sources other than WHO, particularly by the United Nations Development Programme, for this purpose; 3. REQUESTS the Regional Director to include information on the further progress made in his next Annual Report. NOTES with satisfaction the progress made during the year in the development of quality control and collaboration between national laboratories in the Region; 2. URGES the Regional Director to continue to implement the proposals. pertaining to this programme; 3. SUGGESTS that he include information on the further progress made in his next Annual Report.
