Decision: date and place of the third regular session of the Meeting of the Parties

MEETING OF THE PARTIES TO THE PROTOCOL TO ELIMINATE ILLICIT TRADE IN TOBACCO PRODUCTS FCTC/MOP2(15) 17 November 2021 Second session Geneva, Switzerland, 15–18 November 2021 13 DECISION FCTC/MOP2(15) Date and Place of the Third Regular Session of the Meeting of the Parties The Meeting of the Parties (MOP), Taking into account Rule 3 of the Rules of Procedure, which provides that the sessions of the MOP shall be held at the seat of the Secretariat, unless the MOP decides otherwise; Recalling decision FCTC/MOP1(11), establishing as a formal requirement for Parties hosting a regular session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) to also host a session of the MOP, immediately following the COP, at the same geographic location and under the same circumstances, regardless of whether the host Party is also a Party to the Protocol; Noting that there is no suitable venue available in Geneva and thanking Parties for expressing interest in the call to host the Tenth Session of the Conference of the Parties to the WHO FCTC and the Third Session of the Meeting of the Parties (MOP3) to the Protocol; Considering that the following option has been proposed for convening MOP3, DECIDES that MOP3 will be held in Panama, with dates to be confirmed after agreement between the hosting Party and the incoming Bureau, in consultation with the COP Bureau, and with the support of the Convention Secretariat.
