OUTBREAK NEWS Cholera, Somalia. As of 22 April, a total of 1 191 cases had been reported to WHO, in cluding 63 deaths (case-fatality rate, 5.3%), since the beginning of the outbreak on 12 March 2002. Five out of 18 regions are affected: Banadir (Mogadishu), Lower Shabelle (Merka), Middle Shabelle (Jilib and Haranka), Hiraan (Belet Weyne) and Bari (Bossasso). Laboratory tests have confirmed Vibrio cholerae 01 Ogawa. ■
