COMMUNICABLE DISEASES SURVEILLANCE The first issue (No. l,M ay 1982) of the Zimbabwe Epidemiological Bulletin, an official publication o f the Ministry o f Health of the Republic of Zimbabwe, has been published. It replaces the monthly report of notifiable diseases which had been appealing for many years. The new bulletin is meant to provide feedback from the central min isterial level to and from the operational levels of province, district, health centre and village. The contents of the Epidemiological Bulletin will cover the follow ing: statistics compiled from the provincial offices, reflecting notifi able disease surveillance information; articles on current original or operational research findings in the areas of communicable and noncommunicable disease o f general public health interest ; articles about specific disease control programmes. This first issue contains an article on plague, statistics on notifiable diseases in 1981 as well as a review o f the ongoing Zimbabwe Expanded Programme on Immunization. SURVEILLANCE DES MALADIES TRANSMISSIBLES Le premier numéro (N° 1, mai 1982) du Zimbabwe Epidemiological Bulletin, qui est une publication officielle du Ministère de la Santé de la République du Zimbabwe, vient de paraître. Il remplace le relevé mensuel des maladies soumises à notification qui existait depuis de nombreuses années. Son but est d’assurer dans les deux sens des échanges d’information entre l’échelon ministériel central et les éche lons opérationnels au niveau des provinces, des districts, des centres de santé et des villages. Son contenu sera le suivant: statistiques établies au niveau des provinces sur la surveillance des maladies soumises à notification; articles faisant état des résultats de recherches originales ou opéra tionnelles sur des maladies transmissibles et non transmissibles pré sentant un intérêt général pour la santé publique; articles sur des programmes de lutte contre certaines maladies. Le premier numéro contient un article sur la peste, des statistiques sur les cas de maladies soumises à notification en 1981 et une analyse du programme élargi de vaccination en cours au Zimbabwe.
