Motorcycle helmet Wearing a seat belt reduces the risk of a fatal injury by up to 50% for front seat occupants and the risk of death and serious injury by 25% among rear seat occupants. Child restraints can reduce deaths by at least 60%. For children 8–12 years, booster seat use has been associated with a 19% reduction in the odds of injury compared to using a seat belt alone.
