Local Government (Gaelic Names) (Scotland) Act 1997
Power of council to change name into Gaelic and vice-versa.
In section 23 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 (change of name of local government area), there shall be inserted, after subsection (1), the following subsections—.
Short title, commencement and extent.

This Act may be cited as the Local Government (Gaelic Names) (Scotland) Act 1997.
subsection section-2-2
This Act shall come into force on the expiry of the period of two months beginning with the day on which it is passed.
subsection section-2-3
This Act extends to Scotland only.
