Org~nized at the reques~ of the Uruguayan Government, the mission will make a survey of UI11guay rs agr:tcultural economy in a number of special fields. The report of the Mis::Jion, with ;its recomme;ndationa, will suggest the means :t'or fundamental development of the agricultural economy of that country. Chief of the M:i.~si,on is Sir Maurice Hutton, a distinguished leader in industry and fin~nce, l;Uld present head of Glaxo Labora,tories, a pharmaceutical man\lfacturi,ng organization in Great Britain. Puring World War Il, Sir Maurice headed the British Food Mi:3sion to the United St~tes and Canada, and from 1946-1947 he served 4s Alternate Executive Director of the Bank for the Uni tad Kingdom. · ·curi:ant, plans call f¢1r the Mission to remain :in Urug1:1ay about two and a. -half to t~ee months. Mr. David Savage, Superintendent of the Range and Pasture Experimental Station of the Bureau of Plan.t Industry, u. s. Department of Agriculture, Woodward, Okl~horaa, has been appointed Pasture anq Forage Specialist~ Dr. C. P. Mc¥eekan, Superin- tendent of the Ruakura Experimental Station at Hamilton, New Zeale.nd, will study the Dairy Industry. The Soil and fe:t9tilizer Speoialj,st will be Dr. U•. H•. Pierre,_ head of the Agronomy Department of Iowa State College. Mr. Leonard G. Shoenleber, who is on the staff of the Bu,reau of Plant Industry, e Soils, and Agricultural )l:ngll\eerll\g of the U.s. Departme?1.t of Agricu,'J,.ture, will sarve as Agricultural Engineer. Dr. Hans G. Winkelmann, Direc·tor of the Swiss Forest Economy Assooiation, w!ll join the Mission in Montevideo in early November, as the Specialist in Forestry. Dr.~. H. Maunder, of the Food and Agri.~ul tm,-e Organization of the United Nations, nas been deEJignated tb.e Specialist on Agricultural E:x:tension; he plans to join the Mission in Montevideo for a month toward the latter part of their stay. During their stay in Uruguay, the Miss~on members will have benefit of assistance and advice of the Prepa~atory Comniission for Agricultural ~nd Pastoral Planning recently established by the Government of Uruguay •..
