INTERNATIONAL BANK FOR RECONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION CURRENT ECONOMIC POSITION AND PROSPECTS OF COLOMBIA (in five volumes) VOLUME V PROJECTS FOR EXTERNAL FINANCING IN 1969 December 20, 1968 Western Hemisphere CURRENCY EQUIVALENTS (as of November 4, 1968) 1 U.S.$ - 16.77 Pesos 1 Peso (Ps.) = US$Oo5Q96 1 iMillion Pesos = us$59,630 INTRODUCT ION Table 1 indicates the financing obtained for developmxnt proj- ects since the last Consultative Group meeting of June 1967. It shows that $22.9 million was committed in the second semester of 1967 for two loans for railroad rehabilitation. In calendar 1968, $215.6 million of project loans were signed. Another $58.8 million of external financing for the Alto Anchicaya hydro project was due for consideration by the Board of the IDB in December 1968, which, if taken into account, would bring the total external financing of development projects in 1968 to $274.4 million. The Table excludes program type assistance, commitments for which amounted during this period to $73 million from the U.S. Table 2 shows the list of projects presented to members of the Consultative Group for consideration at the meeting of the Group which is scheduled for january 30 and 31, 1969. The description and justifi- cation of each individual project is attached to this Table. Table 3 gives preliminary listings of the development projects which may come to be presented for external financing in 1970-73. This Table presents only a tentative forecast of the possible shape of future project lists. As projects listed for the first semester of 1970 mature, and their priority becomes confirmed by the Government, they will be presented to the Consultative Group as addenda to the 1969 Project List, to be distributed to Group members with periodic reports on the status of that List.
