The number of direct beneficiaries increased from 500 in the last period to 31,445 people in the 10 targeted sucos or 29% of the PDO target in 26 sucos. Officials and community members trained on various aspects of community based disaster risk management have increased from 564 in the last period to 719 or 92% of the final target of 780. On immediate result indicator of DRM plan at suco level prepared, the achievement had increased from only 2 sucos in the last period to 10 sucos or 100% of the suco covered in the CBDRM contract and 38% of the final target. Finally, on immediate result indicator of Disaster Risk Management pilot implemented at suco level, the achievement had increased from 0 in the last period to 26 projects in the current period, or 87% of the final target. The Recipient has requested a twelve month extension of the grant closing date; the Bank is considering the request. As the new coalition Government is just started with the leading party previously in the opposition, there remain substantial risk if more political adjustment and compromise needed before the new Government is fully operational. However, the project had drawn lessons from the past few years by empowering the officials in the civil service to take more decisive role in operational and management matters, and position the Minister to take important political and policy decisions.
