Tertius Zongo Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Development Ministry of Economy and Finance Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso Excellency: Re: Fourth Education Project (Cr. 2244-BUR) Belgian Grant No. 20817 (Amendment to the Belgian Grant Agreement) We refer to the Belgian Grant Agreement (the "Agreement") between Burkina Faso and the International Development Association as Administrator of development aid funds provided by the Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of Belgium (the "Association"), dated July 24, 1996, and to your December 19, 1996 fax to the Association in which you informed us about your acceptance of an increase in the Belgian Grant fund amount. We are pleased to confirm, therefore, our consent to amend the Agreement as follows: 1. Section 2.01 is deleted and replaced by the following: "The Administrator agrees to make available to the Grantee, on the terms and conditions set forth or referred to in this Agreement, an amount in various currencies equivalent to two hundred million Belgian Francs (BF 200,000,000) or such other amount as shall have been made available by Belgium to the Administrator for this purpose, pursuant to the Agreement." 2. The table in Schedule 1 to the Agreement is deleted and replaced by the table set forth below: Amount of the % of Grant Allocated Expenditures Category (Expressed in BF) to be Financed (1) Civil works 165,600,000 100% (2) Equipment and Furniture 34,400,000 100% ___________ TOTAL 200,000,000 =========== All other provisions of the Agreement, as amended herein, shall remain in force. Please indicate your agreement with the foregoing amendment by signing and dating the confirmation form on the attached copy of this letter and returning it to us, while keeping the original for your records. This amendment will become effective as of the date of confirmation of this letter.
