Key development issues and rationale for Bank involvement The Government of Mozambique (GOM) has prepared a five year road sector strategy for the period 2007 to 2011. The principal objectives of this strategy are to ensure sustainability of the road network through the provision of adequate maintenance, to enhance connectivity to the centers of administrative and economic importance, and to provide access to the rural population. The Bank, jointly with the other (17) active Development Partners in the road sector, plans to support GOM to achieve these objectives in a Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) framework.
