Appointment of the Regional Director for the Western Pacific
1. The present appointment of Dr S.T. Han as Regional Director for the Western Pacific expires on 31 January 1999. 2. At its forty-ninth session, the Regional Committee for the Western Pacific, in accordance with the provisions of Article 52 of the Constitution of the World Health Organization, and with Rule 51 of its own Rules of Procedure, nominated Dr Shigeru Omi as Regional Director for the Western Pacific and adopted the following resolution:1 The Regional Committee, Considering Article 52 of the Constitution, and In accordance with Rule 51 of its Rules of Procedure, 1. NOMINATES Dr Shigeru Omi as Regional Director for the Western Pacific, and
2. REQUESTS the Director-General to propose to the Executive Board the appointment of Dr Shigeru Omi from 1 February 1999.
ACTION BY THE EXECUTIVE BOARD 3. The Executive Board may wish to consider this resolution in accordance with the provisions of Article 52 of the Constitution, and of Rule 48 of the Rules of Procedure of the Executive Board.
