The following is an extract from the document entitled "Formulating strategies for health for all by the year 2000 , Guiding principles .and essential issues, Preliminary document of the Executive Board" DocumentA32/8 presented to the Regional Coumittee as document WPR/RC30/11 Part II Add.2. paragraph 95:
"
The global strategy should envisage the streragthening of
global mechanisms, such as the establishment of an appropriate body of participating countries for attracting bilateral and multilateral funds and for ansuring that they are channelled into priority activities in countries." This refers to a body of the type mentioned at a meeting of representatives of these countries held at WHO headquarters in meeting the Director~eneral Nov~ber

Consultations have been held concerning the
fun~tions
and composition
of such a group. It would appear that it would be better named ."International Health/2000 Resources Group" and that its function would be to foster the mobilization and rationalization of international support for health through the channelling of resources into priorities in the developing countries for attaining an acceptable level of health for all their people by the year 2000. It is proposed that the group be
composed of representatives of the donor countries and agencies as well as of the developing countries.
The work of the group would be carried out mainly through the exchange of information and reciprocal influence. The group would hilate:-el and into pr.iority
