EM/RC12/R,10 The Regional Conanittee, 1 Having considered the document on Solar Radiation and i ts Related Heat Effect on the Human Organism; Realizing the significance of hot climatic conditions on the health of man, and heat stresses on the output of work; Taking into consideration the camall t ies due to heat stroke during large congregations, or on ships i n tropical waters or otherwise; Noting the incapacity caused by heat exhaustion i n the tropics; Recognizing that the great majority of the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region are located i n the hot belt of the desert, 1. REC0MEND.S t o Member States that i n the l ight of the Technical Discussions heat i l lness should be regarded as an important public health problem needing further investigation for i ts prevention; 2. REQUESTS the Regional Director t o take the necessary steps t o ensure that the World Health Organization includes this subject in its program of research; 3. EXPRESSES i t s appreciation for the Joint work carried out i n th i s f ie ld by the Government of Saudi Arabia and the World Health Organization. October 1962
