U n it e d K in g d o m (7 June 1985). —1 Four influenza A and 3 influenza B cases have been confirmed serologically in Northern Ireland. Laboratory evidence of activity of influenza viruses, both A and B, has been reported from Scotland. Eight influenza A and 7 influenza B viruses were confirmed for the week ending 8 May 1985. In a geriatric unit in the Health Board Area o f Ayrshire and Arran, rising titres o f antibody to influenza A were detected in 3 patients. During mid-May, 11 out of 60 persons in 1 ward devel oped respiratory symptoms, but no deaths have been reported in association with this outbreak. ‘ See No, 24, 1985, p. 185.

Huit virus grippaux A et 7 virus grippaux B ont été confirmés pour la semaine qui s’est achevée le 8 mai 1985. Dans un service gériatrique de la circonscription sanitaire de l’Ayshire et d'Arran, on a décelé chez 3 malades des titres croissants d’anticorps anti-virus grippal A.
