RUBELLA SURVEILLANCE C h in a . — Rubella is not a notifiable disease in China. In order to assess whether it should be included in the immunization pro gramme, a seroepidemiological investigation was carried out among 1152 persons in all age groups in Paoting, Province of Hopei, in the Autumn of 1979. The results presented in Table 1 show that in the age groups above five years, virtually everybody had haemagglutinationinhibition (HI) antibody to rubella virus and among those below five years of age less than 30 % were still seronegative. Among the 446 women in the age group 20-49 years included in the study, only five had HI titres below 1:8. These findings indicate that rubella is not a disease to be included in the immunization programme in that area at this time.

SURVEILLANCE DE LA RUBÉOLE C h in e .
