LE POINT SUR LES ÉPIDÉMIES
Plague, Malawi. As of 27 May, the Ministry of Health had reported a total of 71 cases of bu bonic plague in the district of Nsanje since the onset of the outbreak on 16 April. The outbreak has so far affected 26 villages (23 in the Ndamera area, 2 in Chimombo and 1 vil lage in neighbouring Mozambique). There is good cross border collaboration between Malawian and Mozambican health teams. WHO is assisting the Malawian Ministry of Health surveillance unit and the Nsanje dis trict health staff in their efforts to contain the outbreak by providing supplies and tech nical support, including the training of health workers.
Peste, Malawi. Au 27 mai, et depuis le début de la flambée qui a commencé le 16 avril, le Ministère de la santé avait signalé au total 71 cas de peste bubonique dans le district de Nsanje. Jusqu’à présent, la flambée a touché 26 villages (23 dans la région de Ndamera, 2 à Chimombo et 1 village du Mozambique voisin). Il existe une bonne col laboration transfrontalière entre les équipes sa nitaires du Malawi et du Mozambique. L’OMS soutient le Ministère de la santé du Malawi et le personnel de santé du district de Nsanje dans leurs efforts pour circonscrire la flambée en leur fournissant une assistance matérielle et techni que, comprenant notamment la formation du personnel sanitaire. ■
