TIME AND PLACE O F FORTHCOMING SESSIONS O F THE REGIONAL COMMllTEE

FIFN-SECOND SESSION The Regional Committee, at its fiftieth session in September 1997, decided to hold the fiftysecond session of the Regional Committee in Bangladesh in 1999 (resolution SEA/RC50/R7). Accordingly, the Regional Director proposes to make suitable arrangements to convene the session in Bangladesh in September 1999. The Government of Bangladesh may wish to confirm their offer to host the fifty-second session.

FIFTY-THIRD SESSION The invitation of the Government of lndia to host the fifty-third session in lndia in 2000 was noted by the Regional Committee (resolution SENRC50IR7) in 1997. The Government of lndia may wish to confirm their invitation to host the fifty-third session of the Regional Committee in September 2000. The Regional Committee may also consider proposals, if any, for the fifty-fourth session in 2001. In considering such proposals, the Committee may keep in view the resolution of the Seventh World Health Assembly (WHA7.26) which recommends:

"... that, in deciding on the place of their meetings. Regional Committees should consider holding them from time to time at the site of the Regional Office, taking into account the costs involved for the Organization and the Member States concerned." These decisions will enable the Regional Director to make appropriate adjustments in the programme budget for the concerned biennium.
