Revision of the International Health Regulations Report by the Secretariat
1. The second session of the Intergovernmental Working Group on Revision of the International Health Regulations resumed at WHO headquarters in Geneva on 12 and 13 May 2005 under the chairmanship of Ambassador Whelan (Ireland). More than 145 Member States took up the issues remaining when the session was adjourned on 26 February in the Committee of the Whole. 2. The Working Group finalized its proceedings at a plenary meeting in the early morning of 14 May. It approved the draft revised International Health Regulations for transmission to the Fifty-eighth World Health Assembly. One Member State, Cuba, reserved its position with regard to the revision of the International Health Regulations, in particular Articles 7 and 44. 3. The draft revised International Health Regulations as approved by the Working Group are transmitted separately to the Health Assembly for its consideration and adoption.1
