INTERNATIONAL HEALTH REGULATIONS Requirement of Smallpox Vaccination Certificates in International Travel The recommendation of the Global Commission for the Certifica tion of Smallpox Eradication* 1 calling for the abolition of * the requirement of a smallpox vaccination certificate from travellers has already been implemented by many national health administrations. The number of countries still requiring a certificate has been falling rapidly since the beginning of the year, and on 7 March stood at 16. This trend seems likely to be accentuated with the approach of the World Health Assembly and the scheduled official declaration of smallpox eradication. According to the latest information available to WHO, the follow ing countries still require certificates: Benin Brunei Chad Comores Democratic Kampuchea Djibouti Equatorial Guinea Ivory Coast 1See No. 5. pp. 33-34
