Adequate specimen collection rate, 2016–2018 Annual Meetings of the WHO-coordinated Global Poliomyelitis Laboratory Network 12-15 March 2018 - Geneva, Switzerland Two meetings of the Global Poliomyelitis Laboratory Network (GPLN) members have been held in WHO Headquarters from 12-15 March: 1. Ad Hoc Small Working Group (SWG) of the Global Poliomyelitis Laboratory Network, 12-13 March 2018 Members of the SWG discussed progress with development of new methodologies, approaches and all issues relevant to improvement of polio diagnostics in the context of Polio Eradication and Endgame Strategic Plan 2013–2018 and the Polio Post Certification Strategic Plan. 2. The 24th Informal Consultation of the Global Poliomyelitis Laboratory Network, 14-15 March 2018 At the annual meeting of the GPLN, participants from Global Specialized, Regional Reference Laboratories, National laboratories and Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) partners have gathered and discussed: a. recent advances in global polio eradication with emphasis on laboratory support to the programme; b. overall performance of the GPLN and report on the GPLN's quality assurance programme and capacity building; c. alignment of polio diagnostics with the programme needs; and d. implementation of the Global Environmental Surveillance Expansion Plan with recommendations to the GPLN and field surveillance officers.
