SEVENTY-SECOND WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY (Draft) A72/79 28 May 2019 Sixth report of Committee A (Draft) Committee A held its eleventh meeting on 27 May 2019 under the chairmanship of Dr Silvia Paula Valentim Lutucuta (Angola) and Dr Yasuhiro Suzuki (Japan). It was decided to recommend to the Seventy-second World Health Assembly the adoption of the attached two decisions relating to the following agenda items: 12. Other technical matters 12.10 The public health implications of implementation of the Nagoya Protocol One decision as amended 12.4 Promoting the health of refugees and migrants One decision as amended (Draft) A72/79 2 Agenda item 12.10 The public health implications of implementation of the Nagoya Protocol The Seventy-second World Health Assembly, recalling the Convention on Biological Diversity and its objectives and principle, and the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization to the Convention on Biological Diversity and its objective; and reaffirming the WHO Constitution and the International Health Regulations (2005); and having considered the report by the Director-General on the public health implications of implementation of the Nagoya Protocol,1 decided to request the Director-General, to broaden engagement with Member States, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, relevant international organizations and relevant stakeholders: (1) to provide information on current pathogen-sharing practices and arrangements, the implementation of access and benefit-sharing measures, as well as the potential public health outcomes and other implications; and (2) to provide a report to the Seventy-fourth World Health Assembly, through the Executive Board at its 148th session, as well as an interim report to the Executive Board at its 146th session. 1 Document A72/32. (Draft) A72/79 3 Agenda item 12.4 Promoting the health of refugees and migrants The Seventy-second World Health Assembly, having considered the report on promoting the health of refugees and migrants1 decided: (1) to take note of the WHO global action plan on promoting the health of refugees and migrants, 2019–2023; (2) to request the Director-General to report back on progress in the implementation of the WHO global action plan on promoting the health of refugees and migrants, 2019–2023, including relevant information provided by Member States on a voluntary basis and United Nations agencies as appropriate, to the Seventy-fourth and Seventy-sixth World Health Assemblies. = = = 1 Document A72/25 Rev.1.
