REVIEW OF THE PROPOSED PROGRA.MIv:IE AND BUDGET FOR 1960 IN THE LIGHT OF PRESENT BUDGETARY ADJUsrMENTS AND CONSIDERATION OF AMENDMENTS PROPOSED BY MEMBER COUNTRIES The majority of changes affecting the Technical Assistance programme have been brought about by governments when submitting their requests to the Technical Assistance Board. Due to various factors, beyond the
control of the World Health Organization, it is possible that further revisions will be effected dlrring the Technical Assistance Board meeting to be held later this year.

The Twelfth World Health Assembly approved the 1960 programme and budget proposed by the Director-General, as contained in Official Records No. 89. In the period following the submission of the 1960 regular programme and budget estimates to the ninth session of th~ Regional Committee certain changes took place and these are indicated in brief hereunder. 1.
REGIONAL OFFICE
The occupancy of the nefT Regional Office building necessitated the prOvision of an additional ~22 568 for common services. A new post of interpreter at P2 grade was also provided effective 1 July 1959 as a result of the increased 'forkload. In order to offset some of these increases the post of medical officer, Singapore Epidemiological Intelligence Station was transferred to Area Representatives effective 1 July 1959. 2. REGIONAL ADVISERS The staffing pattern for advisers has been changed by: (a) combining the posts of Adviser in Tuberculosis and Adviser in Venereal Diseases and Treponematoses into a single post with the title of Regional Adviser in Communicable Diseases, ,dth effect 1 July 1959; elimination of the post of Regional Adviser in Health Education of the Public; establishment of a new post covering parasitic diseases.
